New York Mounted Policeman Jeff Adams goes West to investigate the death of his former chief, Steve Mallory. Mallory had purchased an old hotel from local big shot Saunders, but almost immediately after the sale, Saunders wanted to buy back the hotel. Mallory refused to sell, believing there was treasure in the hotel. The former police chief was murdered a week later. Cisco and Jeff Adams have evidence that Saunders who carefully maintains is pose as a law abiding citizen, was responsible for Mallory's murder but lack evidence that the clever businessman has broken the law. Jeff circulates the rumor that the key to the hotel treasure is in the hotel same, and Cisco posing as a shady character interested in the treasure talks Saunders into cracking the safe. Saunders agrees, but Cisco's connection with the law is exposed. Saunders men capture him. Escaping, he catches Saunders in the act of blowing the safe which reveals a very strange treasure.
