When Jane and Roger observe a pair of mating gorillas, Dan's voice booms from the shortwave radio, antagonizing the male gorilla to the point of attack. Tarzan intercedes and scares the gorilla away. Shortly after, Roger is visited by Julie, his ex-girlfriend, who says she is on a research project for the college thesis. Julie is afraid to admit to Roger that she still loves him, and he feels that same way. The two of them get so tense and nervous that they enter into aggressive banter. Tarzan sends them to his tree house across the lake to talk and work things out. Meanwhile, Tarzan spends the night with Jane, and admits his lover for her. By the next morning, Julie and Roger have still not resolved their differences, and they take their canoe back to camp. By freak accident, Julie falls in the lake and an alligator attacks. Tarzan stops the alligator and Roger carries Julie to safety. Julie finally admits what she could not admit before: she lover Roger and came to Bendali to visit him, not to do a research project. Julie decides to stay the entire semester in Bendali with Roger. Both Julie and Roger learn the value of honesty in relationships.
