The Bendali commissioner summons Roger to his office with a draft notice. He tells Jane and Tarzan that he will waive the draft order if Tarzan will recover the famous Sapphire Elephant from an ancient temple. Tarzan doe not want to disrupt the sacred ground, but for Roger, he will try his best. While Tarzan overcomes a long succession of booby traps on the temple grounds, Dan lectures Roger about accepting responsibility. Roger considers Dan's words and sees the message. Once Tarzan returns from his adventure, Roger announces that he will not lower himself to the level of the commissioner. He will accept his drafting order and report for armed forces duty. Tarzan returns the Sapphire Elephant to the temple and speaks proudly of Roger's decision. Jane, however, is fearful and worried about Roger's well-being. Fortunately for all of them, Roger returns from the draft board the next day; he was released from duty because of his flat feet.
