On her way home from her mail route, Vicky meets Manfred, who is very secretive about a parcel he has picked up from Burton's store. He acts strangely and asks Jenny if he can have the next day off. Vicky hounds Manfred until he tells her that he has found a map of gold mines in the area. Vicky insists on going with him.
