Johann, and Elizabeth, decide to take a break and go fishing, but there is a bad storm, throwing them overboard. As the next scene begins, Franz is narrating his fathers journal. He, Ernest and Marie had taken cover in a cave, to wait out the storm. As they emerge, they are eager to complete a raft to allow them to finally get of the island. Ernest notices Marie doesn't feel we'll, which she confirms to him. He and Franz get her back to the tree house, where they realize their parents have disappeared, soon fearing the worst, that they have been killed. Franz won't give up looking , and Ernest and Marie focus on completing the raft. But soon another potential tragedy looms.. Marie collapses, as Ernest and Franz tend to her in the tree house, Ernest notices a bite on Marie's arm, together, he and Franz realize that Marie has been bitten by a tarantula , and will need an antidote to survive. Franz is able to make the antidote , and with Ernest holding his little sister, Franz is able to administer the antidote to Marie in time to save her life. Soon after Franz and Ernest complete the work on the raft. Soon Franz hears his father calling him and to his joy. He sees that his parents are very much alive, and the whole family is together again .
