The Doctor asks Mrs. Mac to spend the night with an ailing Mrs. Crutchfield. Mrs. Mac is reluctant to go because she believes the house to be haunted. Bella offers to go with her to keep her company. During the evening Mrs. Crutchfield dies and Bella keeps her promise to sit by her side all night. On returning to the farm, Bella remembers some more information about the Astoria.
