While taking a friend's herd to the railhead, Cisco and Pancho are stopped by a phony sheriff and deputies who take their cattle. They escape being slain and make their way to town where they talk to the real sheriff and realize they have been bamboozled. Seeing the imposter sheriff enter the office of Sam Kelly, a cattle buyer, Cisco and Pancho get the real sheriff and go after him. Shelby, the phony sheriff, claims they have mistaken him for someone who looks like him. Kelly backs his story and declares that Shelby has been in town all day. Cisco and Pancho do some snooping and almost get their heads shot off, but they finally unmask Kelly as the real brains behind the gang of cattle rustlers.
