Lucas and Marshal Torrance are beset by difficulties while transporting a captured killer back to North Fork for trial. While crossing the desert, Micah is injured in an accident, then their horses are lost. The killer taunts Lucas, sure that only he is strong enough to survive without water, but his reckoning underestimates Lucas' amazing determination and endurance.
